Frequently Asked Questions

G-1000 is Fjällräven's signature outdoor fabric, by applying Greenland Wax, the fabric increases its wind and water resistance. Ironing or washing out the wax improves breathability for hot, dry environments. The tightly woven blend is highly resistant to tearing, making it ideal for rough conditions like bushwhacking, climbing over rocks, and camping
Rubbing and melting the wax into your gear enhances wind and water resistance, improves durability, and repels dirt.
The wax typically lasts 6 to 8 weeks of regular wear before needing a refresh, though this heavily depends on usage frequency. The wax gradually washes out after 2 to 3 machine wash cycles and wears off in high-abrasion areas. It is important to regularly wax your garment for prolong use.
Using an iron (or a hairdryer) on low to moderate heat, melt the wax into the fabric. Use long, even strokes for it to be applied onto the surface of the garment.
