Our Kånken bags has been loved for generations, used for decades and has won over hearts all over the world without changing its timeless design. It is hardwearing, and it has a look that has been proved to be timeless. So when the idea came up to try to make the most sustainable backpack ever, a new approach was needed. Was it possible to create a backpack from 11 recycled pet bottles?

Re-Kånken is made entirely from one and the same material – recycled polyester. A total of 11 pet bottles are used in each Re-Kånken and the project developers have been careful to check that the bottles really have been used and left at recycling centres before being used again. In addition to the polyester being recycled, there is also a big environmental gain in the new dyeing process used.
